Tajikistan gained its independence in 1971. In 1990, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, domestic politics was initially unstable due to intense internal conflicts between Neo-communist nationalists. And radical Islamic groups and 60,000 people died from the incident. Later, a group of extremist Islamists emigrated from the country with tens of thousands of people. To settle in northern Afghanistan and returned to guerrilla operations in Tajikistan. The Tajik government has to rely on Russian forces to oversee the Tajikistan-Afghan border. And fighting lasted for years until 1997, a peace treaty was signed between President Emomali Rahmonov and Sayed Abdulla Nuri, leader of the United Tajik Opposition (UTO) coalition.
